Rosa y Fruta does not test any of its products on animals. However many ingredients such as rose oil, seabuckthorn, and camellia have been tested on mice in some laboratory, at some point in time, in some part of the world. Of course, I do not to purchase any of these ingredients from companies who specifically had their ingredient tested on animals nor do I choose ingredients based upon animal testing results. Humans have used all of these ingredients successfully for centuries before some researcher decided to test them on animals. I I feel it makes no sense to ban these ingredients in general because a researcher decided to test them on animals. I think it is the researchers, laboratories, and companies who test on animals that we should address and not the ingredient. If we banned every ingredient that researchers are deciding to study, then we would have to omit even olive oil from our diet.

Because of an e-mail discussion I had with someone I have been convinced that although there is research showing how certain oils can help prevent skin cancer in bald mice, it is 1) unethical to use that information to our benefit because animal testing is cruel and as Jane Goodall states “unnecessary because alternative ways have already been developed", and 2) because there is no evidence that it would have the same benefit for humans.
